NLC Health Ventures sells SERDA Therapeutics, advancing novel wound debridement therapy toward later-stage development

NLC Health Ventures has sold its shareholding in SERDA Therapeutics (SERDA B.V.) in a transaction paid fully in cash. Terms were not otherwise disclosed.
SERDA is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a prescription product for fast and effective wound debridement. Its lead product, SN514, uses a proprietary proteolytic enzyme to selectively remove necrotic tissue and eschar from burn wounds and chronic ulcers — conditions where current debridement options are often slow, costly, or painful. SERDA completed a Phase 1 safety and tolerability study in 2024 and is conducting a Phase 1b study in patients with burn wounds.
NLC founded SERDA in 2020 as part of its venture-building model and backed the company through its early development and clinical progress. With its joint venture partner taking a majority position, SERDA gains the focused backing of a global medical technology group as it advances the technology.
“SERDA reflects what our model is built to do: take an early-stage invention and develop it into a clinical-stage company addressing a real patient need. We are proud of the progress the team has made on SN514, and this transaction is an enabler for SERDA to progress rapidly through the next stages of clinical development.”
Ian Metcalfe, Partner, NLC Health Ventures
“We are grateful to NLC Health Ventures for their vision, partnership and support in building SERDA from its inception into a clinical-stage therapeutics company. As we enter this next phase, we are committed to advance SN514 through later-stage clinical development. We remain focused on our mission: delivering a faster, more effective and selective debridement therapy that improves outcomes for patients with burns and chronic wounds worldwide.”
Gabor Heltovics, Chief Executive Officer, SERDA Therapeutics
This is the second exit for NLC Health Ventures within a three-week period.
